They locked us down for 2 years, saddled us with the most expensive energy in the world through net zero insanity, the borders are open to third world savages who get put in 4 star hotels at the taxpayers expense & the private sector is being taxed out of existence.
But according to the establishment the reason there’s barely any growth is because we voted to get away from the unelected suits in Brussels.
Meanwhile our economy (somehow) has outperformed our European peers.
Mr. C, So true. Bill will bend over backwards to avoid mentioning the jihadi invasion of the U.K. and Western Europe. He praises Poland for its economic growth, but conveniently forgets to mention that the Poles have one of the most restrictive immigration policies in Europe.
As the ol' saying goes - "The sun has set" on not only the British empire but Europe as well. But what do they do - they want to get in a war with Russia. Really? Just insane in this ol' man's view. But, to stay in Power, they know they must have a "boogie man" for the peons to be frightened of - and yep, once again it is Russia. And, anyone awake knows that Russia does not want anything to do with Europe/UK except sell them oil and other resources. Just goes to show - Power corrupts and it is never good for us peons.
I empathize with the Brits but I’m also baffled by their policies
A proud nation which once had an empire upon which the sun never set would understandably be reluctant to cede control of some of its authority to bureaucrats in Brussels and in Strasberg
But I can’t fathom why they didn't find a way to keep the EU passport holders whose skills helped invigorate their economy.
Nor can I understand why the EU has such onerous import criteria. It appears their trade restrictions inspired DJT’s tariffs.
The winner: government rules and regulations. The loser: the consumer whose governments ostensibly exist to serve them.
You ever notice how the UK builds systems the way a beaver builds architecture? There’s intent, sure, but it’s mostly chaos and stolen optimism. They didn’t lose control of government, they just never found it. Every policy there is a magic trick where the rabbit dies, the hat files paperwork, and the audience gets charged VAT for confusion. And the funniest part? They keep calling it “reform” like repainting a sinking ship makes it a yacht. It’s not governance, it’s performance art for people who hate art and don’t realize they’re in the exhibit.
The UK is the only place where you can crash an entire economy and still get a polite email about it. You’ve got leaders rotating so fast it looks like a talent show where nobody has talent and the prize is just more responsibility you didn’t want. And Brexit? That wasn’t a decision, that was a group project where everyone forgot the assignment, argued anyway, and then set the rubric on fire. The sandwiches need passports, the plumbing has union representation, and the economy is basically doing parkour off a cliff while insisting it’s “repositioning.” I’ve seen tighter logic in a dream I had after bad Gas Station sushi.
Yeah, and I was watching UK on the news, and it’s funny, because they keep saying things are getting better or worse, but it kind of feels like they’re just moving. Like a chair floating in a pool. And the chair is on fire. And someone’s taking attendance. Leaders keep changing, which is interesting, because usually when something doesn’t work you fix it, but here they just swap the person holding the broken thing and call it innovation. And the markets go up and down, which I guess is comforting if you enjoy watching money behave like it’s late for something it forgot to care about. Anyway, I’m not saying it’s a mess, but I’ve seen better systems in vending machines that are actively stealing from me.
Lol Bill's description of London is too weird. Maybe if he got out of his hotel restaurant, he might realise that pretty much every shop, cafe, restaurant and pub has air-con. Plus where are these rampaging mobs that he seems so obsessed with? How can such lazy observations be used to make a serious macro-economic argument? Seems like every time he tries to use his perceptions of what's happening on the street that he concocts a real mess of nonsense.
Brexit was never properly implemented. The political elite always hated the idea and did everything to sabotage it. But the general public has no appetite to make it work either. Which constituency would vote for a Singapore on Thames? For limited government? They all want bigger government to solve their problems & confiscate wealth from the object of their envy

...who thinks Europe is better since the EU conversion?
I lived there when it was Europe, and visited as the EU.
There's a reason it's called "eu"
🤣

Jimm,
If I recall England or the UK was paying something on the order of several billion £s annually in contribution as an E union member.
……and the French and German economies are booming?

... the number one male baby name in the U.K. is "Mohammad".
