Thank goodness Bill's consistent questionable Iran war analysis has finally given way to a concept most of his readers probably agree with which is the US government and its mostly incompetent/slimy politicians and millions of bureaucrats are the ones that will ultimately lead the US to its demise.

Rickyd's avatar

Agree! Bill’s Iran assessment is questionable.

Tom Langdon's avatar

Well, Bill you have consistently argued that Trump unjustifieable initiated the "War" with Iran. So just to be clear, enemy combatants are not "Murdered" they are killed. Try to keep your diengenious morality out of an otherwise cogent analysis of the American debt crisis, of which I believe, most of your readers will agree with.

Andre Louw's avatar

Murder the unlawful premeditated killing of one human being by another.

IMHO I find it difficult to describe the premeditated and surely unlawful killing of of the Ayatollah and the top brass of Iran's security cluster as anything other than murder.

The killing was deliberate and premeditated. Trying to describe it as lawful as it occurred without trial and without warning while negotiations were taking place. i find difficult to get my head around.

I have very little sympathy for their loss of life but to describe it as anything other than murder is not honest

Conic Tonic's avatar

If the regime was ultimately responsible for October 7th which I think it was … I tend to see it as a form of capital punishment.

Tom Langdon's avatar

I very much like the humility in your comments. Humility is a very hard concept to understand, but like porn when you see it one knows what it is. The rest of the murder discussion is just semantics and perspective. Both of which lead as opinions, both of which we have. 😀

Andre Louw's avatar

Regarding pinion that is for certain We both have our own. I'm not sure semantics can be used to simply brush aside the facts. Perspective is in the eyes of the beholder and in this case, yours ,to which you are entitled

Is it simply a matter of killing or premeditated killing which by definition is murder?

I find the latter more compelling. I am happy to recognise that there are those who are happy to excuse this as a simple matter of justifiable homocide and not murder as BB had the audacity to call it.

It might be interesting to test this in a court of law.

Angry Icebergs's avatar

Killing in defense is not murder.

Andre Louw's avatar

Please inform us who was defending from whom. Certainly America is geographically too far away to be defending itself from Iran. This begs the question why is its military buildup in the middle east necessary or justified other than to satisfy Donald Trump's ill informed and stupid ego,

The unintended consequences will be felt by the rest of the world apart from China which is happily watching the US destroy itself.

Angry Icebergs's avatar

Oil and power, to answer what we are defending, or should I say "controlling".

Apparently you are unaware of the constant threats coming from Iran and her proxies.

"Death to the great and little satans!"

Uh....that's me they're talking about killing...

Is there any doubt should these ideological haters of infidels obtain the means to threaten the world with nukes, we will all be seeking Allah.

Andre Louw's avatar

Dear Angry, Do you suppose that those calling for "Death to America" are more likely to call for "God bless America" after their leaders are being murdered and the country being bombed to oblivion by the US and Israel which in reality is an artificial construct of a country that has only existed through military might since 1948 with the aid of britain the US and the UN..

Angry Icebergs's avatar

So... Judea doesn't count?

And yes... the recent Iranian counter attacks and the Abraham accords already have some Islamic Countries saying "Allah Bless America"...

Cartero Atómico's avatar

But this isn't a war. Only Congress has the power to declare war. Trump said this was just an excursion. But were those school girls enemy combatants or possible "future" enemy combatants?

Tom Langdon's avatar

Please see the War Powers Resolution of 1973. I know this can be interrupted or misinterpreted and argued in the courts. But in this case congress has yet to go through the courts. No, they argue it in the legacy media. Why do you think they have chosen the media rather than the courts?

Cartero Atómico's avatar

Please see the Constitution: "The Congress shall have Power . . . ] To declare War, grant Letters of Marque and Reprisal, and make Rules concerning Captures on Land and Water;"

Wasn't this put in place to prevent a single person taking the US to war? Maybe they had the foresight to see that

an unbalanced or deranged president could start a war?

As far as the "legacy media" I stopped listening to them a long time ago. Maybe when I found out about Operation Mockingbird.

Tom Langdon's avatar

Well my friend it looks like war, sounds like a war and acts like a war. I am going with a war and let the politians play with the language which is all they have ever been good at.

Cartero Atómico's avatar

Of course it's war. But in the words of Ricky Waters: For who, for what. It's amusing that our government talks about removing dictators and installing democracy but we, the citizens and taxpayers, get no say in their decisions to spend trillions on war. I've seen polls indicating that 80% are opposed to this "excursion". Imagine what that number would be if the question were - Do you support a military intervention in Iran? Would you still support it if taxes have to be raised to pay for it?

Tim Pallies's avatar

My guess would be because they are more interested in sound bites for the next election than in offending their AIPAC backers.

Angry Icebergs's avatar

What would Cartero say if the U.S. military put a weapons depot (in the middle east) next door to a pre-school and it were attacked?

Cartero Atómico's avatar

One last thing - if Trump and Netanyahou hadn't started this war of choice those kids wouldn't have been killed. And before you reply with Iran was going to get nukes just remember Israel has over 200 nukes, the Samson Option and they've already attacked a US naval vessel. Should we bomb them next?

Angry Icebergs's avatar

...never heard Israel call the U.S. "satan".

Don't remember ever seeing bombs with "death to America" written on them.

Does Israel have buildings painted with anti-American propaganda?

-

Democrats openly burn and spit on the American flag.

Democrats allowed thousands of "killers" to cross the border... unchecked!

Democrats want to eliminate our border protections...

Democrats have also attacked multiple government buildings.

Should we eliminate them too?

Cartero Atómico's avatar

Nice work! I mention the IDF attacking a US ship and you bring up death to America. Maybe you also missed the Dancing Israelis who were arrested after being seen celebrating the collapse of the Twin Towers. But why would Israel shout death to America when we've been providing them with billions in aid for years? And that's despite the fact that their debt/GFP ratio is half of ours and they enjoy a national healthcare system while many Americans struggle paying medical bills.

But I'm sure that if a foreign government couped our government and installed a ruthless dictator I'd be shouting "Death to that country" after we overthrew the dictator. How about you?

Cartero Atómico's avatar

Have you seen this: U.S. military investigators tentatively concluded that outdated intelligence from the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) led to the strike. The school building had been part of the IRGC base until about 15 years ago but was partitioned off and converted into a school by 2016.?

But l lived three blocks from a naval facility in Philadelphia for over 30 years. I guess I'm lucky the North Koreans or North Vietnamese couldn't reach the US. They may have blown up my school too.

Angry Icebergs's avatar

This was reported earlier, the U.S. had no intelligence, they did not know the base was converted to a school...

War is hell...

Cartero Atómico's avatar

War is hell! But this is a war of choice. This is from Grok: That was Oman's Foreign Minister Badr Albusaidi—he's the one who said the indirect talks between Iran and the US had made "significant progress" back in late February, right after a round in Geneva. He even called a full deal "within our reach" on TV, while mediating for both sides.

So talks were progressing but per Marco Rubio - The US knew that Israel was going to attack so we went along with it to prevent US casualties when Iran retaliated. Nice. Netanyahou is calling the shots and we killed those kids on his behalf. I don't how these people sleep at night. They have to be psychopaths.

Angry Icebergs's avatar

Apparently you never read the story of the "Boy Who Cried Wolf"...

For over 23 years Iran has been "ready to talk"...

-

Many believe it impossible to "talk" the waring Mullahs out of their ideological belief.

Including the Mullah's...

Rickyd's avatar

I couldn’t have said it any better. Bill has TDS bad.

Andre Louw's avatar

Do you really blame him when DJT behaves as he does? Anyone with a brain can recognise his narcissistic, reckless childlike behaviour. He is an embarrassment to the American people. To argue that he is better than Biden and Obama is no argument.

Hipolito Cuba's avatar

Both Biden and Obama were degenerates. Sadly, we are now dealing with the disasters of these two morons. Obama was the great divider I still remember his B S about Obamacare. A program designed by the insurance companies ( the fox was guarding the hen house). Remember it was going to make health insurance cheaper? As for Biden he was and is one of the most disgraceful presidents ever. Imagine letting millions into the country without vetting. The work of a moron who never gave a shit about our country. We can probably blame that to the fact that he didn’t know what planet he was on and frankly I don’t think he was able to wipe his own ass. Would Iran have been a problem if in 1979 when they took American hostages we had a president ( Carter ) who had balls instead of trying to sell peanuts?

Andre Louw's avatar

I agree with your view on Obama and Biden and find it strange that a country of America's stature does not have the ability to elect a good president. Pretty much the same goes for Congress and the Senate.

Possibly I exaggerate on my assessment of stature as it is being seriously damaged by the likes of the present POTUS.

Fraser M's avatar

Be very careful what you decide is acceptable in war, because eventually your enemy gets to do it too.

Whether it is lawful or not is the first question.

Whether it is morally right is the second.

Whether it is strategically wise is the third.

But let’s not pretend no precedent is being set.

If scientists, politicians, and civil servants are now “combatants”, then that rule applies to everyone, not just countries we don’t like.

So the only serious question is this:

How will you react when the same logic is used to justify assassinating American politicians, or soldiers, or employees of Lockheed Martin, or Raytheon? And if their families or other civilians happen to be in the way? Will you complain that "its not fair"?

Because under your own definition, they are all “part of the war machine”.

And dont the West have more to lose? More politicians, more engineers, more soldiers, more infrastructure etc?

And finally, if we are not formally at war, then on what legal basis are these people combatants rather than civilians?

Andre Louw's avatar

Excellent comment. Thank you

Jimm Roberts's avatar

The fatal flaw: the Constitution does not require a balanced budget. Worse: our massive debt does not ordain frugality.

Instead, both major political parties continue spending galore and our dictator continues meddling in the affairs of other nations none of which are a threat to us.

No wonder more and more Americans are moving to better managed countries.

RANDALL R NORTON's avatar

I would like to know which countries seem better-managed so I can move there. As long as the US will continue to police the world so I don't have to worry about Iranian-style strong-arming non-nuclear countries.

Jimm Roberts's avatar

I omitted a key phrase: "...moving, in their opinion, to etc."

Angry Icebergs's avatar

No wonder more and more immigrants are coming to America....

Jimm Roberts's avatar

Just the opposite.

And when asylum seekers are kept out of the US while their case is adjudicated, it will be evermore less.

France may even ask for the plaque on the Statue of Liberty to be returned or at least removed (the one proclaiming “Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free")

Angry Icebergs's avatar

...puleez, remove the sign!

Don't need more uneducated poor here...

Jimm Roberts's avatar

Poor likely; uneducated not so likely

Your smarmy response makes you eligible for the same award received by the USG officials who turned away the MS St Louis in 1939.

Angry Icebergs's avatar

The MS St Louis was an aberration in very stressful times.

...and most Americans would agree it was a shameful mistake.

However, it appears quite a few here at BPR (including Bill) would celebrate turning the ship away...

-

I refer to Biden's open border fiasco.

Allowing tens of millions to enter undocumented, unchecked.

MS St Louis was a different issue and circumstance...

Not comparable.

-

"Smarmy"... had to look it up.

I don't believe my original statement is "excessively ingratiating or insincerely earnest".

-

I sincerely believe there are far too many uneducated here already...

Seems you don't agree...

Please send the smart ones to us, our firm is hiring skilled labor.

Indeed, some of Biden's illegals likely have the skills our firm would be giddy to employ.

But it's illegal to hire illegals...

So why have them here?

Worm Farmer extraordinaire's avatar

To destabilize the country. Both parties want it.

Jimm Roberts's avatar

I liked "smarmy" initially but in retrospect I should have not used it.

Immigration: Its been a mess to the latter part of the 19th century (when Californians thought were were too many Asians in their state).

As world population increases and along with the ready availability of instant news, so does the number of desperate people.

Perversely, too many Americans fail to realize our foreign aid programs are intended to abate illegal immigration

And even fewer are aware that the money and food constituting our foreign aid is, respectively, spent and grown in the US.

Even our diplomats must only travel on US owned airlines (if, that is, a US carrier serves the destination to which they are traveling).

My solution, admittedly a partial one, is to reward immigrants who apply at our Embassies for asylum by giving their applications urgent consideration before all asylum seekers.

Xavier Narutowicz's avatar

How do you spell debt crisis in US… Military Industrial Congressional Complex .

Angry Icebergs's avatar

Debt crisis... spelled C O N G R E S S

Everything sucks, everything is crap, so elect me again!

Ed Uehling's avatar

These stupid wars, one after another, since the 1952-4 invasions/“regime changes” of elected governments in both Iran and Guatemala are responsible for at least $30trillion of the current $39trillion debt and the additional trillions US taxpayers have paid and continue to pay (now at the rate of $1.2T/year) are 100% caused by the Department of War/“Defense”(hahaha). NOT ONE was started by “CONGRESS”.

And now our nutcases, inspired by the world’s super pariah Israel, are on the verge of losing to Iran. Taco and Netanyahu had better figure out how to stop it while it’s still possible and before Israel gets wiped off the map!

Angry Icebergs's avatar

..."losing to Iran"?

Really?

Which channel is that on?

Jimm Roberts's avatar

Term limits a partial answer

Better answer: a Congressional amendment requiring a balanced budget

Likelihood of either: nil

Result: Rampart inflation; wider disparity between the 10% and the 90%, ever growing social disorder

Cartero Atómico's avatar

With term limits you might just get a revolving door of corrupt politicians looking to become rich. How about an end to all lobbying and campaign contributions? If you wish to run and obtain a sufficient number of signatures you qualify for public campaign financing.

Jimm Roberts's avatar

I think you are onto something.

Good: Candidates have to use their own resources to acquire the requisite number of signatures to qualify for public campaign financing,

Better: Citizens will not be overwhelmed by ads paid by special interests

Best: Each state or district decides how much public money can be spent by their respective candidates

Loophole: Special interests can activate their followers and fund them to, for example, distribute flyers; speak from pulpits or walk door to door to persuade voters to elect the candidate that most likely will hew to the special interest's goals.

Some special interests are so effective, they put the interests of other countries ahead of America's.

Angry Icebergs's avatar

I believe you touched on the problem as I see it.

Low IQ voters.

They will follow whatever political propagation they agree with, whether factual or not.

Allowing low IQ voters weeks to return their unsolicited ballot ensures the low IQ voter count.

Voting should be 2 days maximum, no unsolicited ballots.

Cartero Atómico's avatar

I think I have to agree with you. There's always a loophole and a schemer who will find it.

Angry Icebergs's avatar

In 10 years will anyone say "gee, I wish we hadn't eliminated the Iranian nuclear bomb threat?"

Cartero Atómico's avatar

Or in ten years will we be saying what the hell happened to the US? We've been spending trillions on war this century while we slowly collapse.

James ( Jim) Marshall's avatar

Any one reading this piece may recognize the parallel to the fall of Rome....it took about 300 years. But we have the internet and a printing press so we can fall faster than any empire before us.

Angry Icebergs's avatar

With the exception of Switzerland and Singapore,

I believe most countries are in or about the same indebted financial situation.

Angry Icebergs's avatar

"We" were already wondering what happened to the U.S. way before Trump...

Cartero Atómico's avatar

Agreed. Maybe if we could go back in time we could start wondering why the hell we belived Woodie Wilson would keep us out of WWI. Then wonder why we let them establish the Fed, the Federal Income Tax and the beginnings of the failed War on Drug's.

An Ol' LSO's avatar

If Iran doesn't eliminate Israel and the Zionist, the world will experience the next nuclear war some time in the not too distance future. Israel is saying - once this is over, Turkey you are next. The only way it is stopped, if Israel is destroyed. And, from all reports, Iran is doing a bang up job of doing that. As John McCain said - "Bomb, Bomb, Bomb, Bomb, Bomb Israel".

Angry Icebergs's avatar

Guess your reality depends upon your preferred propagation source...

Kevin Leader's avatar

I cannot see Israel taking on Turkey.

An Ol' LSO's avatar

Worm Farmer extraordinaire's avatar

They are talking about it as we speak. They are looking to expand Israel greatly.

Kevin Leader's avatar

We will find out sooner or later.

James ( Jim) Marshall's avatar

You are very correct! This isn't time for weak knees!

Andrew TORRANCE's avatar

How can Trump go against Netanyahu if Mossad`s agent, Epstein, gave the Israeli authorities a lot of leverage over him? The same could perhaps be said for other members of the US elite, and even some Europeans. The Israelis have them by the b--ls.

Patrick H Neff's avatar

Andrew, you are absolutely right on this. I'm sure they have videos with audio of all the exploits of these elites with young girls. I don't understand why more of this doesn't come out.

Patrick H Neff's avatar

Yes , and they can easily control world affairs with this leverage.

Angry Icebergs's avatar

Does it change anything?

Does it make DJT policies any different?

Does it change the world?

Would it change the opinion of Trump you hold now?

I guess the rapping and killing was all part of the spirituality. Let’s be honest here, none of this would have been necessary if in 1979 we had a president with some balls instead of trying to sell peanuts. As I recall he did nothing when the Iranians stormed our embassy and took hostages. Oh yea there was a rescue attempt but the helicopters ran into each other. You rightly state that you are happy that you live in America.almost as far as you can get from Iran. However America or should I say Donald Trump''s reckless military interference in response to the ruthless Bibi Netanyahu's bidding will not make many friends in Iran. The other gulf states hosting the US military bases. I fear, are also paying the price. Ultimately the consequences of this rash action and IMO will prove to be unintended and negative.

Cartero Atómico's avatar

Too bad the Oman government official stated that progress was being made on the Friday before Netanyahou dragged the US into this war. Also, too bad the Trump family doesn't want to join the battle. The Trumps always manage to stay out of wars - Grandpop was a draft dodger just like Donnie. And Fred Trump stayed out of WWII making money on the hole front just like Donnie's conniving kids. I did 3 years in the Army but if I were of draft age now I'd be looking up Donnie's doctor to get me a bone spur exemption.

Trump gamed this all so far ahead, Bill can’t see the forest through the trees. TDS has blinded him to Trump’s genius planning.

President Trump is taking down all the deep state strongholds.

And the “Federal” Reserve Banksters will soon be taken down also. He’ll restore the US Treasury with gold backed constitutional money. The US debt will be erased because it was done illegally. He’ll provide for honest elections, one day, no machines, no mail in duplicate ballots, no illegals voting. And no dead people voting. The midterm collections will be a landslide victory for conservatives republicans. And so much more you can’t even fathom Bill.
