Hmm... Big tariffs on Brazil, with a "B". And really big tariffs on Russia, with an "R". Tariffs on India, with an "I". And more huge tariffs on China, with a "C". Atop previous tariffs on South Africa, with an "S".

What do you notice? It spells... BRICS.

Okay, yes... sure... tariffs are classic protectionism... Reindustrialize America... Trump's inner Alexander Hamilton, if not channeling the ghost of William McKinley.

But it's more like we're witnessing a US-Trumpian response to the world going down the BRICS road... Moving away from dollars & US/Western dominance; although many other Western nations also must be pondering much the same thing now that the US is turning so deeply inward.

"Baby, I ain't goin' down that road of love by myself, and if you won't come with me, guess I'll have to get somebody else. " Clarence Carter (from the Atlantic Records LP "The Dynamic Clarence Carter", New York: 1968) This track featured a searing, solo guitar performance by the late, great Duane Allman.

The world, if it wants, is going to go down the BRICS road, no matter what we do. What I don't understand is why people a) can't see what is happening and , and b) are so reluctant to implement the solution.

The answer to "a": death by government. The answer to which is cut/eliminate government. As to b), who knows? An alcoholic knows his salvation is to stop drinking, but how many actually do it? Government is killing us, but we double down on government at every turn. Chewbacca must live on Endor. Best always. PM

Byron, agree with everything except "US is turning so deeply inward". What it appears is that Trump and the other neocons circling the Beltway just can't stand that the rest of the World is not longer afraid of the Big, Bad USofA. Our leaders have no idea what diplomacy is. They have no idea of how to respect other leaders of sovereign countries such as Xi or Putin except, of course, the Boss in Tel Aviv. Now that leader makes Trump toe the line. It doesn't appear much is going on to help us peons here internally in the U.S. China has 24000km of bullet trains, the US about 140km. Manufacturing capabilities - so far apart to be laughable. And, no matter what Trump says, it isn't coming back unfortunately. Even China today is losing some manufacturing to less expensive countries in ASEAN. Our military - spread all over the World, isn't keeping up. The Military Industrial Complex doesn't have the capacity to fight one prolong war, and certainly not 3. My hope is these nut cases don't resort to nuclear weapons. It is an ugly world and our leaders are unfit for the reality today.

Oh, I do. Some 300 traps in my logbook and have watched so many more. The USS Oriskany was my boat (CV-34) - now sitting at the bottom of Gulf of America about 24 miles off of Pensacola. Back in my day there weren't any automated landings. A lot of good memories since us carrier pilots learned a long time ago to complete block-out the scary ones. And the only landing I was completely comfortable with was the first one because I didn't know what I didn't know. Then you know and are never "comfortable" again. LOL!

Oh my God, tariffs again!?! Tariffs are like political herpes, they flare up every four years, and somehow we’re always surprised. Trump’s over there playing Monopoly with real countries like, “You landed on South Korea, pay me 25% in copper futures!” The guy’s economic plan is basically just yelling at the stock market until it does what he wants. “Lower the interest rates!” Yeah, sure, Don, why don’t we just wish for a trillion dollars and a pony while we’re at it. The only thing pouring into America right now is inflation and fentanyl. But keep yelling at the Fed, I’m sure they’ll print us out of this flaming clown car.

And Pam Bondi? Oh, she’s a real-life Scooby-Doo villain in a pantsuit. First, she’s got the Epstein list on her desk, now she’s like, “Wait, no, that was my Postmates order, totally unrelated to an international child sex trafficking ring involving billionaires and royalty.”Ghislaine Maxwell is running laps in federal prison for trafficking minors, like she’s training for the Olympic torch relay, while the “clients”, those billionaire boy scouts and royal degenerates roam free like prize bulls at a Texas auction and nobody’s asking who the hell she was trafficking them to. It’s like convicting a drug dealer but pretending the buyers were imaginary. “We caught Pablo Escobar, but the cocaine just disappeared into a black hole. It happens!”

Joe Biden? Look, I’m not saying he wasn’t fit for office, but let’s be honest, the guy was giving Weekend at Bernie’s vibes every time he opened his mouth. The Deep State didn’t even have to try, they played him like a damn fiddle in a hostage negotiation. “You can have the presidency or your family… but not both.” It’s like watching a Hallmark political thriller written by the Zodiac Killer. What the hell happened to this country? We used to fake things with at least a little finesse. Now the corruption’s just naked, oiled up, and sunbathing while CNN gives it a slow foot massage and whispers, “You’re doing amazing, sweetie.”

I don’t even know what’s more insulting anymore, the lies, or how lazy they’ve gotten. If you’re gonna rig the empire, at least try to entertain us. Jesus Christ!

Why is there no outcry for an independent investigation into the Epstein blackmail operation? The CIA and Mossad specialize in Honey Pot operations and Alexander Acosta said he was told to go easy on Epstein because he belonged to intelligence. Trump interrupted a journalist who asked about Acosta with his Robert DeNiro impersonation: Are we still talking about Epstein? Are we still talking about that guy? Isn't this a national security issue and shouldn't the public know which politicians have been compromised.

Why was there no public outcry for an independent investigation into the drama that unfolded on 22 November 1963? The government "investigated" itself on that one, remember? Wasn't the JFK assassination a national security issue? Shouldn't the public know which politicians were in on it? Three generations have come and gone since then, and still nothing. No one ever paid a price or suffered a penalty for what happened that day. No one, except a man who told us all on national TV "I'm just a patsy", and he got what patsies get and are designed to get. And you expect something to come of the Epstein case? Really? Best always. PM

P.S. By the way, the Hunter Biden laptop is real; it's a "thing", don't you know? It's been out "there" since 2019, and...nothing. Nobody even mentions it anymore. One hears and sees...nothing. PM

Per AI, Allen Dulles was CIA director from 1953- 1961. He resigned after the Bay of Pigs fiasco. He was on the Warren Commission in 1963 as one of the two “private” citizens (along with John J. McCloy). Chief Justice Earl Warren, two US senators (Richard Russell Jr, Georgia, John Sherman Cooper, Ky), and two US representatives (Hale Boggs, Louisiana, House Majority Whip, Gerald Ford, Michigan, House Minority Leader and later 38th President of US) were the other committee members.

Sounds reasonable to me, and technically the CIA did not investigate itself.

The Warren Commission is an extension of government, by definition. Their job was to whitewash and make it look good. I was 11 years old when I read the bible-sized Commission report and smelled a rat even then. Like everybody else, I saw the Oswald rubout live on TV, saw the Red Sea part for Jack Ruby, who was allowed to walk up to Oswald, gun drawn, and bury a .38 slug in his gut. Best always. PM

... there's an "outcry" for investigation by the constituents.

But obviously if both parties don't want to investigate, do you really need an investigation or don't you think we already know what would be found...

As slimy as this is, there is really nothing new under the sun here, and it has nothing to do with the actual competency of operating the gov't.

But...it is precisely this sort of clandestine act than can bring the administration down... not because Trump may be culpable, but because his administration is proving to be lying hypocrites too...

Mr. Murray, At the very least Pres. Trump should have fired AG Bondi or forced her to appoint a special prosecutor to investigate this case after she so terribly botched it. Pres. Trump was a longtime CEO, and if Ms. Bondi had upset so many customers, as she has MAGA constituents (like my wife and I), I do believe he would have terminated her. But he gets into govt. and his advisors talk him out of it by telling him that certain contributors on the right, not just the left, would be nailed, or he has to consider the big picture, or VP Vance has to worry about reelection, not him, etc., etc. Who knows? So then Pres. Trump comes out and--incredibly--praises Ms. Bondi! You can't make up this stuff. And I was a financial supporter, not just a Trump voter, for Pres. Trump's three campaigns. So this was not a shining moment for Mr. Trump by any means with a lot of us.

What is troubling is when I peruse some of the articles on heavyweight conservative websites, such as Breitbart News, The Daily Caller, Townhall, etc., about the Epstein matter, I notice that so many commenters (and pundits) are no different than the Democrats' free-stuff base. "He's my president, right or wrong, so let's move on." At least the free-stuff crowd has a specific reason (i.e., free stuff) why they won't challenge their leaders. And this is why authoritarians so desperately want to have a majority peasant class as third-world countries have. Authoritarians despise and fear a balky middle-class. But when many in the middle-class act like peasants on welfare, then a first-world country has a very scary situation on its hands.

Bill-What can I say you have described a government (as it is in most countries) that does business as usual (corrupted to the core). These none caring idiots that go into government don’t give a damn about their constituents; their main goal is to take care of number one. I’m sorry to say it includes the Trump administration. The disappearance of the Epstein files is a disgrace. These elites get away with everything while we ‘little people’ pay consequences for our actions. As far as tariffs I think ALL tariffs from mall countries should be abolished. I also think that we are headed for a new world currency (as it happens approximately every 100 years). I don’t think it will be from any BRICS country but I do believe that the IMF will come up with a currency more equitable for all countries. The dollar was ruined in 1971 when Nixon took it off the gold backing. The future is ?????????????

The Bible is very clear there will be an appointment for every man and woman to stand for judgment before the Living God of the universe. A couple points about such;you won’t miss the appointment and you won’t even be late, none of the proof(files) disappear you won’t lie your way out of any of the ignorant deeds you committed and all the money and expensive attorneys in the world will be utterly worthless. I find great consolation in these facts. However, I do hope the sexual perverts who prayed on innocent, especially children victims repent and find Jesus because if not their fate will be so terrible and will last for eternity if you can fathom such a length of time.

I am not necessarily anti-tariff, I want to level the playing field, mostly to eliminate the arbitrage of the multinationals. I believe that’s the real reason we lost our industrial base is the multinationals make cheap and sell high…arbitrage.

And tariffs, if done properly, can eliminate that middleman, and bring production back home.

That being said, targeting brics for brics sake, and more Russian sanctions, does not put a speed bump in the dollar flight… It speeds it up.

And yes, this is the end of an empire. Nothing like this has happened in the modern era and the old days, without the Internet and other instant things… it really is different this time. De-Dollarization is going to be quite a show.

Youngsters, it's getting closer to that time. We may find out which kind of coin is the best to hold when the crap hits the fan. Many investors are holding those imaginary crypto coins and others are holding gold/silver coins or "real" gold/silver miners. I know, I know. Crypto coins are "digital" coins, as I understand it, but not coins that you can hold in your hand. Sure, they are real, but only until the electricity goes off, God forbid. In the meantime, try getting someone to accept your "digital" stocks/coins for real money (gold/silver) or food and many other essentials. I could be very wrong, but gold has been recognized as the only real money for many centuries. The question is who to believe. Many centuries of "gold is "real" money or the young teck whippersnapper that assures is that "this" time it will be different and gold has seen it's last day.

Gold as the same but also a BIS Tier 1 asset that provides legitimacy equal or greater than US Treasuries. Hope that both can still be traded discretely and not confiscated easily. In regards to the tariff game the US actually has a positive trade balance with Brazil, so why bother placing tariffs on them? What if this results in Brazil finding other countries for their exports and imports? Don't actions such as this give more incentive for other countries to ignore the US and trade among themselves.
