It’s all part of the great rhythm...the beat that goes on...and on...and on. Everything corrects. Everything regresses to the mean. From ashes to ashes...dust to dust.
Geez......really communism is bad. Who won WWII - it was Russia. Why did Japan surrender.....not because of the nuclear holocaust but because Russia was coming and they prefer to surrender to the West. The Ukraine war would be here if the U.S. had the ability to stick to agreements it made - any agreement. But, no, they just can't. The Evil in the war is local in two places - Washington, DC and Israel. They are the ones committing genocide here, there, almost everywhere.
Why do you equate criticism of Israel with anti-Semitism? Are the Jews who criticize Israel anti-semites too? Are the majority of Israelis even Semites? Netanyahu's father's name was Mileikowsky, so if we criticize Bibbi are we also anti-Poles?
Lenin was a Jew, take a look, take a look at who the leaders of the Bolshivics were, its strange that the leader of the green party in the UK is a jew that is gay and wants muslims in the country I"am sure you you already know the Leader of Ukraine is a Jew
Here's a little something from Google: Benzion Netanyahu[a] (né Mileikowsky; March 25, 1910 – April 30, 2012)[2][3] was a Polish-born Israeli encyclopedist, historian, and medievalist. The ending "-sky" (or -ski in traditional Polish spelling) is a standard Slavic suffix.
In fact, many of the "Israeli" prime ministers had changed their names to make them appear Israeli instead of Eastern European from where they originated. None of the many Jews I knew in Philadelphia looked anything like a Semitic people.
Mr. G, So true. The 21st Century began with millions of good-paying jobs being shipped overseas, then the borrowing to create new jobs began because the globalists knew quite well that the number of tech jobs would never come close to replacing all those mostly manufacturing jobs lost. So defense created lots of them as the wars in the ME got going.
I don't understand why Bill never mentions "jobs" anymore when he does his analyses. He writes like all this debt run up in the 21st Century just went into someone's pocket, which is nonsense. The debt was overwhelming run up to support jobs, jobs, jobs, jobs. But the question, as Bill used to ask, is: Did these replacement jobs produce true wealth for the country? Of course they didn't. The U.S. didn't need all these ships, planes, armaments, etc. to protect itself, for example. But it did produce---jobs. As Bill used to explain, producing true wealth is when you produce something that people really need. Instead too much debt went into producing "bridges to nowhere," for example, that didn't add value to society. But it did produce lots of jobs.
And Bill just has to finish his essays anymore by unfairly kicking the elderly by bashing Social Security and Medicare while not mentioning Medicaid and general welfare. And the elderly had to pay into Social Security and Medicare by the way. So when writing this, he's cherry-picking, which is classic propaganda.
Mr. G, I did not write that we should not replenish all of our defense spending on armaments and equipment. That would be insane. I wrote that there is lots of defense spending that is unnecessary just to keep jobs flowing. Of course, for example, the U.S. needs nuclear subs refurbished or new ones built because they are the ultimate peacekeepers throughout the world. The U.S. can't let the ChiComs build subs that could technologically stop our subs from even firing off their nukes. But the U.S. military should not be building lots of weapons systems that do nothing but stir up needless problems around the world. We should use our weaponry to principally protect the U.S. and our neighbors to the South.
You probably don't agree, but I believe we should close many of our bases around the world and just protect the Americas. I say let the ChiComs and jihadis have the Other World; i.e., the rest of the world that is not the Americas (countries from northern Canada/Greenland down to So. Argentina/Chile). Let them control, slaughter, and enslave all these countries that seem to want to destroy or enslave themselves. The Americas has all the natural resources to feed and clothe our people; and, run all the vehicles and machinery. It does not need the rest of the crazy world determined to destroy itself; aka The Other World. The U.S. military can be used to pressure dictators in Cuba, Mexico, and Brazil if the folks won't be able to throw them out. And it can exile all the drug lords to the Other World; and, hopefully, the druggies will follow them out to the Other World. And finally the Americas can build a Star Wars space defense shield to protect it as well. Assist our nuclear subs and other ships.
Regarding Global Warming: if it's real, human-caused, and a curse on us and future generations, as opposed to being an actual cycle in the lifespan of the planet, in which case there's nothing we did or can do, then the cause of the warming is from stuff we did 50-60 years ago, when we burned coal like no tomorrow, and had major pollution generators known as cars and trucks in the millions. But we "fixed" all of that. We quit using "freon" (dichloro-difluoromethane aka R-12). We clamped down on nasty coal and did all we could to clean up the process, scrubbers and the like, and we used computers and catalytic converters to clean up the automobile to become, comparatively, non-emitting, and we did ALL of this at great physical cost. So, IF we are suffering some kind of retribution from our own short-sighted behavior, it's now from something we did 50-60 years ago, or it's simply cyclical, and there's nothing we can do now, EXCEPT one thing: ADAPT. Inflate or die, yes, but even more so, adapt or die. And in the final analysis, it's all a dodge, anyway, because as Country Joe and the Fish famously sang, "We ain't got time to wonder why, Whoo! We're all gonna die." Best always. PM
I've always believed global cooling, global warming, climate change was simply a scheme. Not that I disagree with your thoughts over the past generations.
Everyone reading this post today knows the answer, the story WILL NOT end well. The BPR readers are mostly older, have worked all their adult lives, and "I hope", have saved and invested over the years and have a rainy day fund. I hope all of our readers will have something to pass on that will enable the grand children to have a rainy day backup fund to help them along.

Well, first off Patrick, I appreciate the enthusiasm. I don’t think I’ve ever heard someone say “I digress” after only covering… seventeen different subjects.
You started with the national debt, took a scenic route through virology, Congress, world history, international relations, the afterlife, and somehow landed back at the Constitution. That’s less of an opinion and more of a cross-country road trip.
I always get nervous when somebody says, “Fact, Jack.” That’s usually when I realize I’m about to need a notebook… and maybe a lawyer.

As for me, I’m just an old fella. I have enough trouble figuring out why my television needs three software updates before it’ll let me watch a baseball game. World geopolitics feels like a pretty ambitious side quest.
Still, I appreciate hearing your perspective. Conversations are a lot more interesting when people can disagree without throwing the furniture. Besides, if any of us had all the answers, we’d probably be terrible dinner guests. We’d never stop talking.
Why blame yourself? No matter who you vote for you get a John McCain. Just this century the Four Horseman of the Idiocracy (Bush, Obama, Trump and Biden) have run up $35 trillion in debt and all we have to show for it are lost wars and decaying living standards. Maybe the sooner the USS Titanic hits the iceberg the better off we'll be.
No air conditioning is a choice by European governments, no sympathy here. All the FIFA fans from Europe were pissed at how they had been lied to about life in America and all the air conditioning. Most wanted to stay. I traveled Europe in Oct/71 for 21 days and liked the different countries but was really glad to get back to US.
According to the Treasury Dept we have added $30 billion to the national debt every single day for the last ten days. It seems like it has become a race to hit $40 trillion as we are now at $39.799 trillion in debt. And as for those who are buying our debt, do they really expect us to pay any of it back?
It will be the people that expect 42% of it to be paid back.
What would happen if that is defaulted on?
U.S. private investors and entities hold roughly $15.16 trillion (42 percent) of the total national debt through mutual funds, pension funds, and individual accounts. Exact figures exclusively isolated to IRAs are not itemized separately in official U.S. Treasury Fiscal Data reports.
Our nation will default on its impossible debt. It must. Our credit rating will go very far down. Maybe to zero. The world will no longer give our nation credit. We will be FORCED to live within our means. (Something that Americans must learn to do) Buying votes with grants and such must/will end. America will be forced to actually produce things of value to the world...besides military ordinance and fast food. As a nation we will be forced to compete without the dollar being the world's reserve currency.
We have the means to compete. We can and must compete and win.
What we need is the leadership to find a path that unites us and directs us all in one direction.
Right now we are divided, our strength is divided and scattered. Our government is corrupt.
Our present course is leading us to failure.
After failure and great suffering, people will seek and find a leader who has a valid plan and gives them direction and hope.
Right now we have a corrupt fool leading our nation. He is actively destroying hope.
The answer to corruption is not more corruption.
The answer is telling the truth and demanding truth in our leadership.
We cannot solve our debt and other problems with lies and vacuous promises and more war.
The leader who finally appears that will save our nation will be a straight talker and doer.
A no Bullshit leader that demands honesty and builds trust.
Yeah, that is asking a lot of a politician. But that person exits.
As I recall, to make the gold standard believable; that is, make our currency literally backed by hold, then the currency must be exchangeable for gold.
If it is exchangeable, then all our gold will disappear in minutes as dollar holders at home and abroad swap paper backed by faith for tangible gold.
You don't need commies to trash the Constitution. Article I, Section 8, Clause 11 gives Congress the sole power to declare war. But even though the US has been involved in armed conflicts in 76 of the 81 years since WWII Congress hasn't declared war since 1942. Looks like both wings of the War Party have trashed the Constitution. Sometimes they've trashed it to fight "commies"! But of course the same politicians had no problems sending our manufacturing base to commie China!
Where's the profit? It's not in our hands. It's in the hands of the oil companies, the military industrial complex and the toady politicians who make it happen. We pay, they profit. Nice gig for them.
And it was I who had a private panic attack when the debt crossed the $1 trillion mark in October 1981. I was convinced The End was at hand. It took over 200 years for the country to get to that point. 55 years later, we're knocking on Heaven's Door, to borrow a line, and still nothing... Best always. PM
Well if You and I knew when "D". day was to come , we would all try to avoid that day . I think, correctly that many a writer in this comment section said , more or less , live each day and Honor God. That is all as You and I do not know much!
"What did it do with the money? What ‘investment’ of public funds did it make that would repay the loans?"
That's easy. They bought votes with it. It's what they do. Best always. PM
It never changes!

We need that person to step forward.
Thinking that Japan, and EU countries will fall first
This comments section is becoming more trashed by the day.

Bill poses a great question: How and when will the US of A's profligacy end?
At some point, enticing foreign nations to lend us money to bridge the shortfall between our nation's tax receipts and its spending won't work.
What then? And wither the dollar?
I recall a line from an old song by Chicago: "Does anybody really know what time it is? Does anyone really care?" Best always. PM
As I recall, to make the gold standard believable; that is, make our currency literally backed by hold, then the currency must be exchangeable for gold.
If it is exchangeable, then all our gold will disappear in minutes as dollar holders at home and abroad swap paper backed by faith for tangible gold.
If so, then what?
"$25 trillion was the end game."
