Written who knows how long ago, the script will continue, regardless of who the POTUS is.

Yep, because the point is indefinitely fresh as long as the grift manages to endure..

Maybe the company should have hedged the expenses which were variable over the 3yr term of the contract?

My view it is just a very long story, which the bulk of society doesn't have the attention span to digest. Kicking the can down the road has weathered many a storm, 1929, 1971, 2000, 2008, 2020 and recently AI and maybe the whiners turned politicians will convince society one more time of a new hope. They only have to convince the lazy half of society. God knows they have confidence in themselves! The AI hoax was a particularly good one! You know computers are "so smart and incomprehensible" and with enough computing power the master businessmen, if anyone, could harness that computing power to save freedom by taking it away. The irony is so delicious and we don't yet know that it is over. We don't know that it is over until the fat lady sings. Anyway it's nice to have a community that is trying to make it all comprehensible. Thanks to all.

Another elegantly visionary Bonner essay, deep as the allegorical ocean.

Most cruise ships, if you price high price cabins with low cost and deep discounts, are getting $400.00 per day per passenger this one was charging $277.00 (approximately). This cruise had 200 passengers; some regular ones have over 3,000.

The moral is it was a swindle.

I do not think all these scenarios are mistakes. They are reactionary, short-term solutions, swindles. They accumulate and destroy the goose that lays the golden eggs.

Sociopaths perpetrate them. Sociopaths always end up controlling governments and corporations. They like power and the ultimate power is to inflict killing and suffering. Body counts make their juices flow.

Another caveat emptor story...

Today Bill writes an interesting narrative. The poor folks on the SS Clusterfk whom not only lost their money but their residence as well. Then at the end of this narrative Bill's TDS comes to the forefront, as if this is what narrative was really about. A real literary bait and switch.

FVM's avatar

I don't think it's TDS, it's uniform disdain for the occupants of the Oval Office and Congress who have been giving the voters what they demanded GOOD AND HARD for decades, as long as they could maintain the illusion that what the voters demanded was possible. The end of this time seems to be rapidly approaching.

Ian's avatar

I don’t know, is it the famous TDS or an obvious connection to make? The Iran war seems like a huge blunder that has upset a lot of things and Trump started it via executive order. Why did the US attack Iran? Was it whim and stupidity or was there a rationale? Would the US go again seeing how it’s turned out?

Mackinac's avatar

Martin Armstrong has a sensible write up on the "mistake" of the war on Iran. See Armstrongeconomics.com. I still view the war on Iran as positive in the view of punishing China for attacking the US which is undoubtedly the case. If we were to fight a violent war with China restricting its energy would be a big positive. However timing of the fight might be a determining factor. Personally I have no doubt that chimera of communism is fighting America already. I think it would be a big mistake to view this war with communism as a nothing burger. I certainly don't want Xi deciding I don't agree with him and hence my heart would be better to bolster his economy.

Tom Langdon's avatar

Well Ian you are flogging a strawman. You know as well as me, and everyone else reading Bill's missive today the "why" of this war. However the truth is that you do not agree with the stated rationale for the war. You are well entitled to your beliefs and opinions. But to ask the question "why did the US attack Iran" is at best disingenuous.

Spiff's avatar

No so simple Tom.

I have read analysis that Venezuela and Iran are really about China, whatever other excuses were given.

The West slept for the past 40 years and gave them everything, including the ability to shutdown our ability to assemble weapons.

Mackinac's avatar

But Trump hasn't been sleeping.

Ian's avatar

Thanks for the answers to the question. What perplexes me is that the reasons stated seem ridiculous and the consequences dire, but the US strategists and military planners have always been ultra-sharp when pursuing their best interests.

Ian's avatar

lol please enlighten us, was asking a genuine question. What is the rationale? Or are you no true Scotsman!?

Mackinac's avatar

I suggest you read armstrongeconomics.com that there were several reasons why Trump went into Iran. Based on personal relationships and the chance that Iranians might revolt after the killing of 10K to 40K students or the nuclear threat and constant antagonism, danger to Israel. But Netanyahu and Kushner were likely to have convinced Trump, not that this is a valid excuse, when you are president you have no excuses for proven mistakes. On the other hand more expensive oil would appear to be to America's advantage should it not go as planned. However, that said, it appears to be undermining confidence in the dollar since that's a bit overextended and that's the play BPR is playing. My personal take is that fundamentally that's the best bet, but I don't blame the negatives on Trump but right back on the communists that have worked this debt for so hard and long.

FVM's avatar

Plausible fear of a nuclear 9/11 and/or Oct 7 once the end-of-days intoxicated ideologues ruling Iran acquire nukes.

Tom Langdon's avatar

Another disingenuous question and one I know you can answer all by yourself. I know, from your comments, that you disagree with stated cause for the war and I appreciate that position, it is just not mine.

The best magic shows are the ones with the best illusions. I suppose there's a lesson there.

If the Democrats take over one or both of the houses of Congress and stop Trump from finishing Iran for good, you will find out why this action was initiated. They (Dems) will most likely start the process of us paying to rebuild Iran and paying out reparations. What a joke. The Iranian Leadership (what's left of them) consists of a bunch of hoodlums and terrorists. Instead of using their revenue to take care of their people, they spent it on tunnels, bombs, drones and proxies! Plus their buddy Joe Biden let thousands of them into this country to wait for orders.

On another note, Bill cannot stop blaming Trump for shutting down the country during the early stages of COVID. There was an asshole named Anthony Fauci that tricked this whole country and prepared the narrative that it was the only way out. I agree, it was Trump's decision, but it was a lose/lose. We can only base the narrative on the information that was available at the time, not years later.

Have a great weekend!
