No, Bob, Ol' Bill didn't just figure that out. He is pointing it out to share REALITY with his consistent groupees. That is what Bill does - shares reality and many are in Denial and Delusion. As Mark Twain once quibbed - Denial is just not a river in Egypt. Happy Valentine's Day

Ol’ StarbridgeEdge - Quien sabe? But, I am 99.9% sure Bill just didn’t figure it out! No more than you “just” figured it out! LOL! It’s Valentine’s Day - give Ol’ Bill Break!

Bill you just figured out that the dems and their stooges in the lamestream media have been lying to us? The harris/biden admin hiring everyone to work in the government and spending trillions to do that to make unemployment numbers look better is not a good idea?

Bill-it would nice if you would mention the waste and fraud that has been found by the DOGE group. Remember they have been in office approximately 3 weeks; they found billions of fraud and wasted tax payer money. How about a little credit to Trump and his team. This is just the beginning. Remember, the democrats are putting roadblocks every step of the way. I wonder what they are hiding. AP

I am not an admirer of our current president, but I do find refreshing that he’s willing to at least attempt to persuade China in particular to call off the arms race.

"The big question is whether Trump, Musk et al are cutting it back…𝘰𝘳 𝘮𝘢𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘪𝘵 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘴𝘦.

Bill ends the week with this - probably should have added another sentence or two telling us 𝙚𝙭𝙖𝙘𝙩𝙡𝙮 how what we are seeing Trump and Musk accomplish is gonna make things worse.

Maybe Bonner should install another tier to the Subscriber fee and actually explain the irrational parts of what he writes to those willing to give him more money. Hey - it'll add to BDP, right?

Have a great weekend, everyone!

Thanks for making this point. I guess I skipped over that last sentence thinking it would be innocuous. It's actually an insane comment and diminishes to some extent what was otherwise a decent column. But that's Bill. He always has to "balance" anything worthwhile that he writes with something just simply "stoopid".

Bill is once again schizophrenic. From one day to the next he goes from loving Dems to hating them (see his "dumb as a Democrat" comment yesterday (or was it the day before?)

I'd pay significantly more to be able to send Bill direct messages with questions that he actually answers. That would be worth whatever the price of admission would be.

Bill quotes the leftist Politico, which has been involved in a controversy over $100M in subscription payments its subsidiary, Politico Pro, received from the federal govt. by providing info that tracks federal govt. legislation and other minutiae. (So the federal govt. pays for info it should know or already have?) This $100M was the majority of parent company Politico’s revenue in 2023. And, of course, none of this money was ever used to pay the political side employee salaries. That would never happen. Ha! So if you’re a political news org, you simply set up a subsidiary under your control that provides supposedly unbiased info, and the money you receive from the govt. goes into a big pot that the govt. has no idea of who it’s benefitting? Ooooohkay. The leftist legacy media are screaming, so Mr. Musk has countered that no political org with these subsidiaries should receive this money. Good idea, Elon. Hope you follow through and make it a recommendation to Pres. Trump; or, if required, to Congress.

My point is that Bill’s timing is a little peculiar here, although the writer for Politico makes valid points about misleading government stats. Interesting, however, that leftist media have—suddenly---become aware of these phony numbers, and thus want the numbers to be true and honest---now that a GOP POTUS and GOP Congress have taken over.

Bill did point out something that apparently conservative media have not been reporting, which is Congress wanting to increase defense spending another $100B, when Musk & Co. and Pres. Trump have indicated they’re going to look carefully at all fed. govt. spending, including defense. I guess we will have to see what Def. Sec. Hegseth says. Will he campaign against the additional $100B, pointing out that it’s all borrowed money, and thus inflationary?

Bill what I find difficult to understand is the Democrats constant attempts to block the costs related to government spending from being reviewed. Do you think they are worried about what may be found? I guess we should just raise people’s taxes without seeing how those taxes are being spent. Our country doesn’t have a revenue problem it has a spending problem. Take the department of education we are ranked near the bottom on reading and writing but the department has been doing a great job. LOL you know the definition of insanity to keep doing the same things but expect a different result. I am a Libatarian and I am encouraged.

Bill, it is time to drink some of the Trump Kool-aid. This is definitely the best TV we have had in four years, top to bottom. You don't have to admit it, but the level of intelligence in the White House and Cabinet has gone through the roof compared to those hacks and empty chairs. I think Trump and the republicans that are on board could do a mic drop, by ear marking all funding and waste that is cut by Doge will be put into social security and medi-caid and made untouchable.

Ajit has a superb reputation as an investor and a straight shooter and it was a privilege to listen to the Private Briefing with him.

I’ve been a subscriber to Ajit Dayal’s company’s retail equity research for longer than I can remember now. In fact, it’s how I met Bill Bonner in Mumbai - when he was speaking at an investment conference! And it’s how I first learned about asset allocation in a sidebar conversation with Bill, and then joined his family office project including a wonderful visit to France around, I think, 2013.

Wonderful memories …

Did I read somewhere Trump would propose each country cut the military spending by half? That’s a neat trick since the US would still spend more than many countries combined. As far as India I wish he would insist the Indians shut down their massive companies that swindle the US elderly population out of billions a year! Talk about a threat to national security, the IT departments of all major companies employ thousands of visa holders. Wonder how many are here placing Trojan horses in case the US gets aggressive

In other words, Bill, as I believe you are inferring - all economics is micro, not macro. The macro numbers, which combine a lot of disparate economic data, usually hide what is really happening rather than reveal the actual state of the economy. If you don't know what the macro numbers consist of, then they are meaningless - actually, they are meaningless.
