Slaughter of the innocents in Gaza? I seem to recall that these people chose Hamas to govern them and danced in the streets last October. I doubt that many of them are dancing in the rubble that is now Gaza...

That said I have no more use for the people who are paying them back in kind; or for the neo-Nazis in Ukraine or the Russian government they are squabbling with...

What I most heartily resent is my tax dollars, extorted from me by my government, being wasted buying arms for Israel, the Ukraine and Taiwan...

Are you saying that the slaughter of 13,000 children born in Gaza after Hamas was chosen to govern them justifies Israel's reducing Gaza into a pile of rubble upon which they dance?

I will agree with you that the US supply of arms to the IDF with money extorted from you by your government are grounds for hearty resentment.

Apologies for my lack of comprehension. You appear to query the innocence of those being slaughtered through your contention that they only have themselves to blame for electing Hamas 20 years ago The point I wished to make was that these kids were not born when Hamas was elected. Their euphemistic collateral damage or as Bill calls it; slaughter, can therefore not be ascribed to self infliction as it would appear is your belief Their dancing in October I do not believe deserves their killing and the reduction of their homes to rubble

What people deserve has little to do with what they get...

War is one of man's oldest institutions. I would not be surprised if it predates prostitution...

Children, like truth, are one of its earliest and most certain victims...

If a Palestinian is stupid enough to conceive a child in the shadow of a government that has responded to even the rumor of war with disproportionate, merciless ferocity since the days of Ben Gurion, then the social Darwinian in me would posit that the human race, as dubious as its future may be, is better off if that Palestinian's genetic issue not achieve fruition...

Eugenics appears to be alive and well.

Untermenschen (subhumans) is what Hitler called the jews and gypsies. They needed to be removed not to pollute this fair earth and he would do his duty to see that it be done.

Who should be the arbiter in deciding which genetic material should be removed or not? It would appear that you and Bibi Netanyahu share a similar view in this regard.

Darwin's "natural selection " has until now taken care of that without any help from Bibi or Dolfi Hitler.

I am not with you there. The problem is not the proles but the elites. Power creates wealth and wealth creates people who think they are "the Chosen" to tell everyone else how to live. "And in Asia, America will cut itself off from friendly trade with the most innovative and productive economy on the planet." I will grant you China being the most productive economy on the planet, but they are not innovative. All their production is designed somewhere else. Peter Zeihan said China stole plans from Germany and others to build complex technical objects and they can't do it. Should we consider a Communist country to be more truthful than a republic?

In "Thick Face, Black Heart" https://a.co/d/1ewMBh6, there is a quote: "If you don't need to trust them; then you can trust them." Perhaps trusting China to tell the truth about their economy is as good as an idea as trusting the United States government. Why do you need a Doom Index for the US and not one for China?

Frank Westmoreland's avatar

Byron, I can't agree more. I don't trust the numbers coming from China and the U.S. Also, when Bill praises Chinese productivity and innovation, and then harshly criticizes Israel, which is a quite productive and innovative country, for slaughtering thousands of folks in Gaza, he forgets that China has imprisoned tens of thousands of their own citizens in concentration camps for a long time, where these citizens have been tortured and murdered. So I find it odd that ever since he has been harshly criticizing Israel, he is suddenly praising China. It would be more consistent for him to praise both countries for their productivity and innovation while harshly criticizing both for what he believes are the crimes against humanity they have committed.

I don't think Bill is remotely antisemitic. He is too famous for anything like this to be hidden. It would have come out by now. I'm sure he has many good friends who are Jewish. I kind of think he might hold a grudge against PM Netanyahu. I have thought the same when it comes to former president Trump. Us regular folk will never know what really goes on in the upper echelons of society among the super-rich, influential, or powerful.

I agree with you that we have to cut spending. Israel and Taiwan might be a better investment than the Ukraine. Both countries provide a lot of new technologies that we use. The Ukraine is probably not going to win against Russia and the money used will devastate the country, not to mention the death toll. I do believe that the US government spends too much within our country. We can start be getting rid of the department of education and the department of energy (both are worthless and education can be assumed by the states). Every department in the US government can be cut by 10% and we wouldn’t even notice it. I’m sure 50% of the budget is ‘pork’ and can it be cut.

Seems the skids have been greased, oiled, siliconed and there is a rocket ready to be lit to push it in the desired direction i.e. to the decline. Politicians can't seem to read the writing on the wall until its too late to act or more costly to act. That's pretty easy to do when you are using other people's money to make yourself rich. Their overspending has to collapse into disaster before they can apply economic logic. They are still thinking Keynesian stimulation is a sure thing.

I proposed this hypothetical before but I'll ask again here just for fun... What if we stop taxing US citizens federally altogether. Instead of any federal income tax, we eliminate it altogether (which would be a huge cost savings and administrative relief), cut the government/war budget of course as clearly needed, and then just simply print whatever money is needed to fund the necessary expenditures above remaining tariff and miscellaneous federal income. Just go strictly with inflation via fiat reserve currency printing and no taxation of US citizens. Inflation becomes the de-facto tax, instead of just a weasely part of it. It becomes the simplest tax regime system on Earth, and all the foreigners holding dollars effectively pay half of it for us, for a while at least. Why not give that a try? Start with Krugman's trillion dollar platinum coin, and just keep on minting them up... Why keep doing this printing and deficit spending in half-measures and fretting and arguing about whether it's all too much? Just go all in and print up the whole damned budget... Eliminate the Fed, Treasury does it's own printing, so no debt, no interest either... beat the banksters at their own game... Everyone will love no more IRS, no more taxes (federally), and no more hot potato pretending the "debt" is ever going to be repaid in sound money... Just good and honest straight up inflation-tax on the dollar holding universe. Brilliant? Or absurdly ridiculous? Or simply "the future"...?

The indisputable fact is the US has no money!! The results will be as described above. My question is, how do I hold accountable the bipartisan morons that have done this to me? How can I get restitution from these criminals here in the United States? There is no way I or any sane person would vote for this kind of self-immolation, which again begs the question of how I get recompense. How would you???

Rich, I read an interesting op-ed written in the 1990s by one of these fellows who usually thinks outside the box (like Bill and his colleagues); e.g., Michael Barone, Pat Buchanan, Cal Thomas, Steve Forbes, etc. (I wish I had kept it..) This person indicated that when first-world countries become extremely highly-populated, as the U.S. was already in the 1990s, it becomes increasingly difficult to exact positive change until the economy collapses. It's difficult for any one group or person to energize enough citizens to rise up and do something before the collapse. (And now, thirty years later, with tens of millions more U.S. citizens, it's even more difficult.) The writer also pointed out that it can even be difficult to exact positive change in a much smaller country until things collapse. I guess we are seeing this in Argentina.

They routinely send 100,000s to die in foreign lands for nothing except to line their pockets. If politicians had to be in the front line - there would be a lot less wars. And, if you ever noticed, rarely ever do politicians kids go off to war. Oh, no - they are in the National Guard and assigned to hot spots like Niagara Falls. You do not see them in combat. There is no success in Greece's effort to descent from the debt mountain. According to a recent article from the Financial Times, it is the second poorest country in the EU. No changes have been made towards a real free market, and the state still remains the main beneficiary of any real productive output. Greece is supported by external loans, using its assets as collateral just to keep the real wealth-sucking operation going.
